I’ve been rather busy of late, so I haven’t had time to deliver the second part on the 3D scanner – sorry about that. But here’s a little teaser to keep your interest up:
In this video you can see how the Arduino drives the servo, which runs the film gate one frame at a time. When the film is in place, the micro switch causes the Arduino to send a pulse via USB to a hacked Canon Ixus, which then takes a picture. In a 4 minute 8 mm film, there are 5,000 frames, so scanning a film takes a long while, but the quality is great. You’ll see…
